The Lough More Catchment is a special area between Lough More on the border of Tyrone and Monaghan and the Favour Royal estate between Augher and Aughnacloy.  It was a fantastic steam for salmon and trout only a few years ago.   It contains a designated site for the Marsh Fritillery butterfly and important heritage sites for the local community including St Patrick’s Chair and well and Ballywholan Portal tomb. 

Unfortunately businesses operations, invasive species and intensive farming is becoming an increasing threat to this important biodiversity haven.

ABC Council is leading the CALM actions here to mobilise the local community to respond to this threat to local streams and pilot cross border links with communities in Scotstown.
