The River Glyde flows through Cavan, Monaghan and Louth, and is set to benefit from significant river restoration investment through CALM. As one of the project’s catchments, the Glyde faces the familiar challenge of excess nutrient loading, which drives water pollution, habitat breakdown and biodiversity loss.

Inland Fisheries Ireland leads the restoration here through three focus areas: working with landowners on nutrient management to cut sediment and nutrient losses; nature recovery to rebuild healthy habitats for fish and water quality; and community integration, bringing farmers, schools and residents into the effort through citizen science and shared stewardship.
